15th Annual Harmony Iftar Dinner held in Ottawa
The 15th Annual Harmony Iftar Dinner was held on Thursday, April 6th, 2023 at the Sir John A MacDonald Building in Ottawa.
This year’s theme was “Diversity and Inclusion.”
"The objective of the annual event is to inspire our communities to care and provide a helping hand to those in need. The smallest act of kindness can inspire individuals to participate and make a lasting impact in someone’s life," said the volunteer organizing committee.
"The Harmony team aims to raise awareness, show gratitude, give back, positively impact and change a life by showing those vulnerable in our communities that there is light at the end of the tunnel."
Founded in 2009, Harmony Iftar is now a staple event that allows Muslims and non-Muslims to break-fast together during the holy month of Ramadan.
The objective of the Iftar is to bring people from the various community together for a delicious meal to break barriers and create a peaceful environment of mutual respect.
"The event aims to celebrate and champion cultural and religious diversity, proving to everyone that, not only can we peaceful coexist in a pluralistic society, but that we are better and stronger for doing so," said the organizers.
