Canadian Azebaijani women offer support to Ukrainian Women’s Association
“We, Azerbaijani women, feel the pain of Ukrainian mothers! Our prayers and thoughts are with you,” is the message from the Azerbaijani Women’s Support Centre (AWSC) in Canada to Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada.
On Friday, representatives of the AWSC visited Darcia Moskaluk-Rutkay, President of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada at the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Toronto and delivered a donation cheque from the AWSC members to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation and offered support to the organization.
“We, Canadian Azerbaijanis, are deeply troubled by the Russian aggression against Ukraine. We accept this as an attack against freedom and human rights,” said AWSC in their letter of support to Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada posted on social media.
“This invasion has left not only Ukranians but also Azerbaijanis angry and heartbroken. We are deeply concerned that this unprovoked war might escalate fighting across the region. This war must be stopped, and those responsible should be held accountable for the evil they caused in Ukraine.”
The Azerbaijani Women’s Support Centre (AWSC) in Canada is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of all women.
