Tariq Ramadan tours Canada - Creating Thriving Societies in Troubling Times
Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) cordially invites Canadians to a talk by Tariq Ramadan, philosopher, writer and academic, as he speaks to the challenges facing our societies today. Dr. Ramadan will deliver a political talk entitled, “Creating Thriving Societies in Troubling Times,” in five Canadian cities: Calgary, Edmonton, London, Mississauga and Toronto.
Please join us for this political lecture by Prof. Ramadan’s which will center on the upheavals facing the Middle East, Europe and North America: e.g. the ongoing conflicts, the shifting alliances, the international terrorist incidents, the East-West perceptions, the massive refugee movements, etc. Ramadan’s talk will be followed by a Q&A period.

Tariq Ramadan is a highly distinguished Swiss-born intellectual, philosopher and writer. He is currently a Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Oxford University, UK. Albeit involved for many years in the debate on Islam in the West and elsewhere in the world, it is as a political expert that Mr. Ramadan will address his audience this time.
Through his writings and lectures Prof. Ramadan has contributed to the debate on the issues of Muslims in the West, and Islamic movements in the Muslim world. He lectures extensively throughout the world on ethics, social justice, faith and ecology, and participates frequently in interfaith as well as intercultural dialogue.
Dr. Ramadan’s lectures in the above five cities will be delivered in English, but questions in either official language are welcome.
