Toronto gets MISTified this weekend
(March 12, 2015) – The Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament (MIST) tournament is set to take place on March 14th and 15th at the University of Toronto St. George Campus.
The Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament (MIST) is a fun, educational, interactive program of competitions and workshops geared towards bringing high school students together from around the nation to develop leadership, communication, and other creative skills, all while gaining a deeper understanding of Islam and Muslims.
The theme for MIST 2015 is ‘The Clarity Of Sincerity: From Outer Perceptions To Inner Reflections.’
MIST consists of annual Regional Tournaments that take place in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, DC, Florida, Philadelphia, New York City, Houston, Southern California, and Toronto.
The winners from each Regional Tournament qualify to complete at the annual National Tournament.
The tournaments last two-three days, ending with the Awards Ceremony on the final night.
The Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament (MIST) currently features over 35 different competitions.
Established in 2008, MIST Toronto was the first MIST region to be established outside the United States.
In just four years, MIST Toronto not only became the largest MIST region, it became the biggest Muslim high school event in North America.
Starting out with just 80 high school students, today MIST has grown to accommodate 700 high school students from Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo and the Greater Toronto Area.
