Cordoba Centre launched to promote civic engagement
(May 12, 2015) – The Cordoba Centre for Civic Engagement and Leadership, a new centre that promotes civic engagement has been launched in Toronto.
“The Cordoba Centre for Civic Engagement and Leadership will engage people in service for the betterment of society and will build trust by promoting dialogue and understanding among people of various cultures and faiths,” says Muneeb Nasir, the Centre’s founder and Executive Director.
“The Centre will bring together civic engagement and outreach activities and campaigns in the Greater Toronto Area, many of which are currently operating as stand alone initiatives,” adds Nasir.
The Centre will also organize intercultural and interfaith programs, as well as experiential learning and leadership training activities.
Through its programs and activities, the Cordoba Centre for Civic Engagement and Leadership hopes to promote meaningful community involvement and a culture of civic engagement among Canadian Muslims. It will also facilitate mutually beneficial partnerships with community organizations locally and across the globe.
“The Cordoba Centre will allow for all of these programs to brought together under an institution and, as such, Muslims will be able to engage more effectively with other civic and interfaith organizations in the society,” adds Muneeb Nasir.
