A Multi-faith Symposium on Extreme Weather Resilience

(December 12, 2015) – Extreme weather resilience was the focus of the Climate Change Symposium organized by IDI GTA, Faith and the Common Good, Toronto Area Interfaith Council and Green Awakening Network on October 1st, 2015.

Entitled “Climate Change in our Backyard: A Multi-faith Symposium on Extreme Weather Resilience”, the event aimed to prepare faith communities to better respond to extreme weather emergencies in the GTA by promoting a deeper understanding of the impacts of extreme weather events and our shared vulnerability as well as the importance of faith-based action to enhancing community based-resilience.

The Symposium featured remarks and presentations by a number of guest speakers including The Hon. Glen Murray, Ontario Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Rev. Dr. David Hallman, former Climate Change Coordinator, World Council of Churches, David MacLeod, City of Toronto’s Environment and Energy Division and Boris Rosolak and Toronto Office of Emergency Management.
