Muslim Philanthropy Forum June 3 in Ottawa
(May 22, 2014) – A Muslim Philanthropy will be held in Ottawa on June 3.
The forum is part of the Inclusive Giving Project launched in 2012 by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada.
This ground-breaking series focuses on highlighting the philanthropic traditions of diverse communities in Ontario.
It is funded by the Ontario government, through the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, and chaired by Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor, The Honourable David C. Onley.
“We are so pleased to take a lead on nurturing new conversations about giving and volunteering in Ontario. In fact, this project is breaking new ground in the sector, and we expect that it will offer some practical insights and strategies for non-profit organizations that are interested in taking diversity and inclusion issues to the next level,” said Andrew Watt, FInstF, AFP President and CEO.
The Muslim Philanthropy Forum is a one-day education, training and networking forum and is for Ontario-based nonprofit leaders, fundraisers, volunteers and donors.
According to conference organizers, participants will learn to understand the giving traditions and patterns of Muslim donors; explore ways to engage donors in giving to Muslim and other charitable initiatives; encourage inclusive relationship-building strategies; speak to critical issues and build strong cases for support within this community.
From Diversity to Inclusion in Philanthropy: An Action Plan for Ontario’s Charitable and Not-for-Profit Sector is a groundbreaking three-year project focused on understanding the giving traditions and interests of a wide range of communities in Ontario.
Organized by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy Canada, in cooperation with its Greater Toronto and Ottawa chapters, the project will offer in-depth inclusion-oriented education, training and networking activities for Ontario-based non-profit leaders, fundraisers, volunteers and donors.
