Known as the “Festival of Sacrifice”, Eid al-Adha is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide and the latter of two Eid festivals (the other being Eid al-Fitr).
The Eid celebrations are typically marked by special prayers, forgiveness and compassion, and many Muslims visit family and friends, exchange greetings and gifts, and make donations to the poor and needy.
Still Life in a Palace is an early 19th-century Persian painting from the collection of the Aga Khan Museum, which is scheduled to open in Toronto in 2013 (Image courtesy of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture).
