Moving Vigil held in Halifax to mourn the seven Barho children killed in house fire

Hundreds of people from across Halifax attended a vigil in on Wednesday night to mourn seven children killed in a house fire in the neighbourhood of Spryfield. Joining the vigil was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,

The Barho family came to Canada in 2017 settling first in Elmsdale, N.S., before moving closer to Halifax.

The children’s father, Ebraheim, is in critical condition and their mother, Kawthar, who was not physically injured but is emotionally distraught and is hospitalized.

The Hants East Assisting Refugee Team Society, the group that sponsored the family to come to Canada, has identified the victims as:

  • Mohamad, 9
  • Rola, 12
  • Ahmed, 14
