Community leaders to endorse Charter condemning Islamophobia

The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) will be joined by community leaders, law enforcement, and elected officials, at simultaneous news conferences in six cities across the country next Monday to endorse the NCCM Charter for Inclusive Communities and to condemn all forms of Islamophobia.

The move is prompted by the National Council of Canadian Muslims, a civil liberties and advocacy organization that says “hate incidents and stereotyping of Canadian Muslims is growing in frequency and intensity.”

The cities that will join the alliance to sign the charter to combat the rising incidents of Islamophobia are Toronto, Vancouver, Windsor, London, Montreal and Calgary.

The NCCM is an independent, non-partisan, and non-profit grassroots organization. It is a leading voice for Muslim civic engagement and the promotion of human rights.
