(July 23, 2015) – An Eid Carnival and soccer tournament will be held at the Islamic Institute of Toronto on Sunday, July 26 in aid of Syrian refugees.

“We need your help to continue and increase our efforts to support the thousands of Syrians who need help,” Yasin Othman, event organizer, told IQRA.ca.

“All funds raised will be going towards Islamic Relief Canada’s Syria Winter appeal, which provides blankets, mattresses, clothing, as well as food and medical aid to the Syrian refugees located in Syria, Jordan and Lebanon.”

According to Othman, 8 teams will be taking part in the soccer tournament and there will be lots of games and bouncy castles for kids.

“We will also have a BBQ, food vendors and clothing vendors in our bazaar,” he added.

So far, Islamic Relief campaign has helped 113,000 Syrians, distributed 47,228 blankets, provided 112,000 stoves and provided 4,000 children with clothes and boots.

The Eid carnival and soccer tournament will run from 12 noon to 8 pm at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, 1630 Neilson Road, Toronto, M1X 1S3.

“So do come out, have a wonderful time with family and friends, and also raise funds for a very worthy cause,” added Yasin Othman.
