Imam Zaid Shakir keynotes CAM-D Gala Dinner

(February 2, 2011) – Imam Zaid Shakir will be the keynote speaker at the Annual Gala Dinner of the Canadian Association of Muslims with Disabilities (CAM-D) that is to take place on Sunday, March 13.

CAM-D is a non-profit association of Muslims with disabilities whose vision is to create a global village that includes full access for persons with disabilities.

CAMD’s mission is to work toward an inclusive society by promoting principles of accessibility.

The event, “Building Opportunities for People with Disabilities”, will take place at the Candles and Banquet Center in Mississauga.

CAM-D is offering a number of programs including special projects with mosques such as Access Islam 101 in ASL (American Sign Language), residential planning for individuals with severe disabilities when caregivers pass away,  activity nights for youth and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, as well as, ongoing public education.
